Colorado is an absolutely beautiful state to visit on vacation. The mountains, national parks, natural wonders and scenery make this state a must see. There are many cities to visit in the state and some of the top 4 include:
- Denver – The capital and largest city in Colorado, Denver is located on the edge of the Rocky Mountains. There are luxurious hotels, bed and breakfasts and more to fit any budget. Denver is home to 4 different professional sports team so take a tour of Mile High Stadium or Coors Field. Places to visit include the Denver Zoo, Botanical Gardens, museums, US Mint, breweries and much more. Use Denver as a home base and check out local skiing areas. Definitely worth the trip.
- Colorado Springs – this 2nd largest city in Colorado sits at the foot of Pikes Peak giving it stunning scenery. Stay in town and visit some of the many attractions including several museums, Cheyenne Zoo, local restaurants and more. Take a train up Pikes Peak, drive or hike for beautiful pictures and scenery. Another local attraction is “Garden of the Gods”. It boasts natural red rock formations surrounded by white capped mountains. Put your photography skills to work taking the picture of a lifetime. You can also visit the Air Force Academy or check out athletes working out in the U.S.Olympic Training Center. Be sure and add this great city to our itinerary.
- Boulder – This city of around 100,00 sits at the foot of the Rocky Mountains along the Flatirons. It is home to the University of Colorado and has many different opportunities for both indoor and outdoor activities. A must see in Boulder includes Pearl Street in downtown. You can shop, eat and people watch in one place. You can take a bus tour, visit a brewery or do a wine tasting and much more. Some of the outdoor activities include hiking along the trails, fish in Boulder Creek or try some winter activities such as skiing at some of the ski resorts.
- Aspen – This small city is known as a hot spot for the rich and famous but it is also for the more budget conscious. Accommodations range from camping all the way to the most expensive of hotels. Aspen is most known for its great skiing in the Aspen Snowmass Resort formed between 4 mountains. From beginners to the most experienced, there is a perfect trail for you. For those who prefer to stay off the snow, you can take a scenic drive, shop or just relax in the small town atmosphere.
